NEPAL & INDIA
From time immemorial, the Indian subcontinent has caught the imagination of travellers, drawn to its fabled wealth; its diversity of cultures and religion; its courtly life; and above all, its enduring sense of mystery. This classical journey unravels some of the major influences that have shaped this remarkable region. The journey begins in the mountain kingdom of Nepal, discovering the delights of Kathmandu, moving forward to a three day trek through picturesque locales and hill villages, with the Annapurna Range as a dramatic backdrop. You then take a flight to visit the holy city of Varanasi, on the banks of the sacred river Ganges, and then continue to Orchha and the magnificent Chandela temples of Khajuraho – famed for beautiful erotic carvings. Heading west, the journey encompasses all the important sights, including the Taj Mahal – romance, immortalised in white marble; the sandstone buildings at Fatehpur Sikri; and the ‘Pink City’ of Jaipur, rounding off the tour in the historic capital of Delhi.
