Rooms: The rooms at Ananda are infused with natural Himalayan light, designed to imbibe the feel of the mountains. Built on a ridge, the guest rooms offer breathtaking views of the valley, the city of Rishikesh, and the Palace. The rooms have been designed in a minimalist and holistic fashion, with wooden floors offset by essential furniture; walk-in closets; and well-lit marble bathrooms, with sunken bathtubs facing bay windows offering exquisite views. One of the main features of the rooms is the independent patio balcony, where one can relax or even practice Yoga.

The Vice regal Suite: This suite with a wrap-around terrace, outdoor Jacuzzi, and its own telescope, embodies the luxury of a bygone era. Located in the Palace annexe, in an area of 220 sq metres, it exudes the warmth of Indian hospitality, with special regional touches to the décor – framed antique ‘Jamawar’ fabric, gold painted wooden artefacts, and pillars with intricate paintings by Rajasthani master craftsmen. Other facilities include a spacious dining and living room with seating arrangement for six, a bedroom with a four-poster bed, an adjoining dressing area, and a separate shower and steam room.

Deluxe Suites & Ananda Suite: The superb one-bedroom deluxe suites are located on the first and third floors, while the spacious and delightful Ananda Suite is located on the ground floor of the guest residence. The rooms have a separate living room with a dining area, and the Ananda Suite has its own private garden. Overlooking the Rishikesh valley, the river Ganges or the landscaped garden and the Palace, the suites feature a private bar; a walk-in closet; in-room safe; bay-window bath tubs and separate shower; tea making facility; and telephones with data port and voice mail.

Vice regal Palace: Concealed by the resplendent façade of the Palace of the Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal, lies the luxurious reception area of Ananda. Popularly known as the ‘Vice regal Palace’, it has played host to some of India’s most renowned heads of state, at the time of the Maharaja’s reign. Completely restored, the Vice regal Palace is the ultimate statement in subtle style.

The reception area immediately uplifts the visitor’s mood, as s/he is welcomed into the Ananda family by the friendly front desk staff. Far from any ordinary hotel check-in area, the splendour of the Palace takes you back to the era of Indian royalty. Relaxation and rejuvenation at Ananda begins right from the moment one checks-in, sipping refreshing spa lemonade. Whether it is the traditional ‘aarti’ welcome or the gracious and cooperative staff greeting the guest, the first impression of the Vice regal Palace leaves one pleased and contented, and reminiscing about traditional Indian hospitality, a characteristic of true royalty.

The Vice regal Palace is one of the most resplendent spaces in the spa. Whether you want to take a tour of the historic royal interiors, or simply relax with your favourite newspaper and a cup of tea, the Palace provides the sinful ambience to be just ‘you’!
